Join us for three fun and creative zine workshops as part of the Edinburgh Zine Festival 2022

It’s Not the End of the World: Zines and Activism.

Wednesday 11th May, 6-7.30pm BST

Zoom / Free / 16+

Join Cara and Lea from Edinburgh Zine Library and Catrina from Young Friends of the Earth Scotland to create a collaborative digital zine. In this online workshop, we’ll be exploring some of the many different links between zines and activism, and look at how in zines we can create space for our feelings, and offer survival strategies - in obvious and less obvious ways.

Free. The workshop is easiest accessed from a desktop or laptop, but join from whatever device you have/is best for you.

The workshop will be captioned using Otter.ai. Any questions or access needs contact: edinburghzinelibrary@gmail.com

Zine Fever: A History of Zines

Saturday 14th May, 11am-12.15pm

Studio Space at Fruitmarket / PWYC (£0 - £5) / 16+

Join Lea from Edinburgh Zine Library to learn about some of the radical histories of zines and other forms of self-publishing.

We tend to imagine the history of things as being like a family tree that we can trace back to a single origin point: the first zine. Instead, in this workshop we'll consider how we can think about the history of zines as more than a series of straight lines. We'll explore some different histories of self-publishing, think about what makes something a zine and delve into the EZL collection, before spending some time using zine-making and collage to assemble our own histories.

All materials provided. There'll be a maximum of 12 participants. We'll ask and expect you to wear a mask if you are able. Any questions or access needs contact: edinburghzinelibrary@gmail.com
